Why We Intentionally Limit the Number of Dogs We Board

More dogs doesn't necessarily mean better boarding.

At Roam & Rest Ranch, limiting the number of dogs we accept is an intentional part of how we provide care.

We're not trying to fit as many dogs as possible into one space.

We're trying to create an environment where we actually have time to know the dogs staying with us.

Why does limited boarding matter?

When fewer dogs are staying together, there's more opportunity for individual attention.

It also allows us to pay attention to the small things.

Is your dog tired?

Do they need a little downtime?

Are they feeling social today?

Have they eaten normally?

Are they desperately campaigning for another round of fetch despite having absolutely nothing left in the tank?

Those little observations matter.

Dogs need downtime too

A boarding stay shouldn't necessarily be eight straight hours of stimulation.

Even dogs who LOVE playing need opportunities to decompress and sleep.

Because we operate on a smaller scale, dogs can enjoy outdoor time, social interaction and play while still having opportunities to settle inside and rest.

You'll frequently find our guests asleep on couches after a busy afternoon outside.

We consider that a pretty successful day.

Personalized care starts with knowing the dog

Before accepting a boarding stay, we want to understand who your dog actually is.

Their routine.

Their quirks.

Their energy level.

Their social preferences.

What makes them comfortable.

And what makes them look at you like you've committed an unforgivable crime.

That information helps us determine whether Roam & Rest is the right environment for them.
